This CPD module is about the key topical issues for pharmacy professionals around nutritional supplements. It explains the size of the market, highlighting key supplements, it discusses the Healthy Start scheme, vitamin D requirements in childhood and pregnancy, and summarises the SACN report on vitamin D.

Objectives

After completing this module you will:

  • Be aware of the some of the policy and practice context around VMS provision
  • Be more familiar with VMS provision with regardto new new mothers and children
  • Have a better understanding of the role of vitamin D
  • Be aware of the new governmental guidelines on vitamin D.
